Therapy is Not About Mental Illness - It's About Mental Health
Life can be difficult, there’s no question about it. Sometimes it’s trying to maintain a loving and communicative relationship in a marriage full of the demands of parenting, finances and work. Sometimes it’s overcoming trauma or loss or redefining who you are or who you want to be. Sometimes it’s simply about fear…. of rejection, of getting older, of the future, of getting hurt. These are all human experiences. No one really teaches us how to cope with life’s struggles, so we become anxious, depressed, isolated, lonely or turn to alcohol, food or other substances. But this is no way to live. No matter what your circumstances, obstacles or desires, I can help you live a fuller, more satisfying life.
The purpose of therapy is to help you to uncover those unconscious messages, discard those that are not serving you and replace them with more accurate and helpful ones. I call this uncover, discover, discard, replace. I will offer you a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment where you can open up and talk freely. But it doesn't stop there. I will work with you, directivity and interactively, so you will learn new skills and acquire new behaviors to try on your own after each session.
